Uttoxeter Road, Mickleover

We were approached by our clients just after they purchased a near derelict two storey three bedroom traditional semi detached property. They wanted to extend and alter the house to create a modern four bedroom family home.

Owing to the condition of the property prior to our dimensional survey the clients stripped the house back to bare brick ready to bring the house back to modern standards.

The existing house had a narrow driveway to the side of the house with long front and rear gardens. Our solution was based around creating the fourth bedroom and this was the basis for the building design, once the location of the additional bedroom was set the ground floor accommodation could be created.

A first floor extension on brick pillars was designed which created an open car port below, the space over the car port created two equal sized children’s’ bedrooms. As the existing drive width was insufficient to create any other well proportioned living spaces we extended the rear of the house with a contemporary single storey extension with fully glazed vaulted gable that integrated the house with the garden more effectively and created an open plan kitchen dining living space which could be enjoyed by all the family all day.
