Bungalow Replacement, Barton Under Needwood

Location: Main Street, Barton Under Needwood

Project Type: Replacement Bungalow

Property Size: Existing 90m2 Proposed 325m2

With 42 Grade II listed buildings, Barton under Needwood is a village in Staffordshire that is full of history.

Our client’s property is a 1970s dormer bungalow, occupying a prominent plot on the gateway into the village.

As is often the case, the bungalow is built on a generous plot of land, but the outside appearance and proportions of the property presented a development opportunity to triple the size of the original property; from 90 sq.m to 325 sq.m by replacing the original bungalow and building a five-bedrooms, four bathrooms family home which was much more in keeping with the location and suited our client’s needs.

Using reclaimed bricks, this traditional, double gabled frontage stands proud, with oak touches to the porch and gables. To the rear of the property, generous glazing throughout allows the light to flood through and make the most of the surrounding views.

Working alongside Charlotte El Hakiem from CT Planning, and with our previous planning experience and knowledge, we successfully challenged any reservations that the local planning authority had, and planning permission was approved, with work starting on the property very soon.
